Gater Racing News Staff Looking Good Again At Super DIRT Week

Syracuse-based Gater Racing News will be presenting the “Best Appearing Car and Crew Award” this year in all of DIRTcar Racing NorthEast’s three major open-wheel touring divisions competing during Super DIRT Week XXXVII. A best appearing Pro Stock car will also be distinguished. Those recognized will receive a winner’s plaque, special cash prize, Gater cap plus three 1-year subscriptions to Gater and also be featured in a full-page advertisement in “Gater Racing News” the following week honoring all special award winners.

“We always look forward to Super DIRT Week opening up and seeing all the new paint schemes,” stated Gater News’ editor Joe Patrick. “This is one of the times every year that teams want to look their best with all the eyes on Syracuse for a week. I know our entire staff will be looking at every car from bumper to bumper, choosing the best ones certainly gets tougher every time.”

Teo Pro Car drivers swept the open-wheel honors as second-generation Big-Block standout Ronnie Johnson (finished 4th) in the no. 2 W.M. Larned-Palmer’s Service Center-Morris Auto Group entry and race rookies Jeff Marshall (358-Modified) aboard the no. 80RPS Performance-Jacob’s Excavation Special and Matt Harrell (Sportsman) steering the no. 35 C. Harrell Inc. machine were recognized, while eventual Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock Champion Pete Stefanski (finished 3rd) riding the no. 2 San-Ter Sewing-PJ N-F Travel/Chevrolet Monte Carlo collected the full-fender prize.

Headlining the list of past winners of the Gater Racing News Best Appearing Car and Crew are former Syracuse winners Bob McCreadie, Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell and Jipp Ortiz plus Scott Kania, Eddie Bellinger, Gordy Button, Jack Cottrell, Roger Horvath, Jim Chenette, Chuck LoPresti, Pete Visconti and Dave Camara.
