Weedsport, NY — April 1, 2009 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing Northeast PR Director
With a wet month of March finally behind race teams, April now stands to officially open
competition towards the crowning of overall Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Champions in 2009, with five events scheduled among three open-wheel divisions.
For the second straight year, Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman title contenders will begin their quest at Black Rock Speedway the first week of the month and follow up with round number two at Can-Am Motorsports Park the third weekend in April. Top 358-Modified teams are slated to run back-to-back Saturdays at Can-Am and Merrittville Speedway while a return trip to Pennsylvania for the ‘Spring Fever 75’ at Big Diamond Raceway at the end of the month marks the new lead-off event for Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series teams challenging for supremacy in the Big-Block Modified ranks.
Overall Mr. DIRTcar Champions will once again be determined by tabulating points earned in the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series for Big-Blocks and the Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series for 358-Modified, Sportsman and Pro Stock teams, along with divisional bonuses collected at DIRTcar tracks throughout the Northeast. The bonus formula is identical for all four touring classes, with every competitor able to max out with six (6) feature race starts at a single track through Labor Day Weekend, adding 360 extra points to their total.
