Orange County Concludes 2008 Season With 47th Eastern States Weekend

Eastern States Weekend at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Middletown, New York remains the biggest, richest and oldest consecutively run championship race for DIRTcar Modifieds in the country. The 2008 edition, October 17-19, marks the 47th straight year for this nationally recognized event, which includes a full weekend of motorsports excitement encompassing four major touring divisions plus a full-fender satellite feature race. Open-wheel classes also run time trials as part of their program.

Trackside activity begins at 12noon on Friday, Oct. 17 with DIRTcar Modified practice followed by WLR Construction time trials for both the Advance Auto Parts DIRTcar Big-block Modifieds and 358-Modifieds, with the top-6 locked in from each. Small-Block qualifying heats are up next with 24 more drivers advancing to Saturday’s Eastern States 100 Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified Series Championship. Pit gates unlock at 8 a.m. and grandstands open at 10 o’clock.

The Saturday, Oct. 18 program opens with Modified practice scheduled at 9:30am followed by Big-Block heats (24 qualify) and 358-Modified consolation races before the E-S 358-Modified 100 Championship finale for the 40 qualified Small-Block stars. Saturday evening the DIRTcar Sportsman division takes center stage with time trials (top-6 qualify), qualifying heats and consolation rounds leading up to the 50-lap Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series Championship. The annual Pure Stock Championship fills the card with pit gates again unlocking at 8 a.m. and grandstands opening at 9 o’clock.

The 47th Eastern States 200 Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series finale for DIRTcar Modifieds is the headline attraction on Sunday, Oct. 19 with 44 of the best Big-Block drivers in the country set to square off at 2:00pm. The popular frontstretch Pit Party (9:30-10:30am) kicks off the Sunday show while Big-Block consis and EMS Race Cars Pro Stock Championship set the stage for the season-ending 125-mile Modified main. Pit gates swing open at 8 a.m. and grandstand seating starts at 9 o’clock.

Ticket prices for the ’08 Orange County Fair Speedway season finale:
Fri., Oct. 17-Adult GA=$10, half-covered grandstand $10 and covered grandstand $12, Senior Citizens (60 yrs + over) and Youth (13-17 yrs) $7 and Children (12 yrs. + under) Free. A special 3-Day Pit Pass is available for $80 (member) and $100 (non-member).
Sat., Oct. 18-Adult GA=$30, half-covered grandstand $30 and covered grandstand $35, Citizens (60 yrs + over) and Youth (13-17 yrs) $25 and Children (12 yrs. + under) Free; Pits=$30 (member) and $40 (non-member).
Sun., Oct. 19-Adult GA=$35, half-covered grandstand $35 and covered grandstand $40, Citizens (60 yrs + over) and Youth (13-17 yrs) $30 and Children (12 yrs. + under) Free; Pits=$40 (member) and $50 (non-member).

Oct. 17-19 Special Eastern States Weekend ’08 Passes are Adult GA=$65, Senior Citizens (60 yrs + over) and Youth (13-17 yrs) $55. Half-covered grandstand $65 and covered grandstand $75. Parking prices for Fairgrounds=$10 (3 days) and $30 (overnight 3 days); Drive-In (3 days) $10 and Upper Drive-In camping (3 days) $50. *Purchase (2) adult packages and get a FREE 3-day parking pass.
