Weedsport, NY — August 18, 2009 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing Northeast PR Director
A detailed schedule is out for Super DIRT Week XXXVIII with DIRTcar Racing Northeast’s premier event comprising five action-packed days and nights, two of those offering special provisions for first-time racers on the Syracuse Mile.
Listed on the schedule of events for a third straight year during the Salt City classic, October 7-11, ‘DIRTcar Futures’ events will be held on consecutive afternoons at the New York State Fairgrounds. Including preliminary practice and qualifying sessions, DIRTcar 358-Modified and Sportsman futures features will go off on Thursday while DIRTcar Big-Block Modified and Pro Stock rookie race entries run their mains on Friday.
The 38th edition of Super DIRT Week opens trackside on Wednesday, Oct. 7 with Modified ‘Happy Hour’ slated for 3-5pm. Thursday is ‘Media Day’ on the fairgrounds with the annual press gathering held in the Infield Conference Building, followed by Integra Shocks Time Trials for both Big-Blocks and 358-Modifieds plus the 358 and Sportsman futures events.
The Friday card is headlined by Big-Block Triple 20 and 358-Modified Twin 20 qualifying races plus Sportsman Time Trials before first-time Big-Block and Pro Stock pilots contest in their own finale.
The weekend is filled with main events for DIRTcar Northeast’s top traveling series — Syracuse 150 358-Modified Championship and Sportsman Championship races on Saturday, with the 200-lap SDW XXXVIII Modified Championship and Pro Stock Championship taking center stage on Sunday.
Satellite events continue to make the Super DIRT Week experience like no other with four area tracks racing under the lights on consecutive nights.
Overall Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar title contenders travel north to Can-Am Motorsports Park in LaFargeville on Wednesday for a 358-Modified/Sportsman doubleheader while the Small-Blocks go solo Thursday night at Brewerton Speedway. On Friday the ‘360 Sprint Car Challenge’ and ‘Parts Plus Big Six’ Street Stock Series grab the spotlight at Cayuga County Fair Speedway in Weedsport while another 358/Sportsman twin-bill headlines the twilight program at Rolling Wheels — site of the WoO Sprint/‘Win And You’re In’ Big-Block Modified Twin 25s on Saturday.
