For the 10th straight year, The Dirt Track at Charlotte will be the site where local heroes become champions during the World Short Track Championship, Oct. 30-Nov. 1. To celebrate that, all 10 divisions will compete for an increased purse.
More than $34,000 was added to the overall purse for the event – a 22% increase – making more than $200,000 in prizes available between payouts and contingency awards.
The event will again feature the Mid-East 602 Late Models, COMP Cams MMSA Mini Stocks, DIRTVision SEHA Hornets, FOX Factory CRUSA Pro Late Models (604), Hoosier Racing Tire Mid-East Crate Modifieds, MSD DIRTcar Pro Stocks, RaceQuip CRUSA/Mid-East Street Stocks, SRI Performance MMSA Thunder Bombers, Summit Racing Equipment DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, and VP Racing DIRTcar Sportsman.

The purse increase was spread across Saturday’s Features with drivers seeing multiple increases to the winner’s share and other positions throughout the fields.

604 Late Models: $8,000 to win/$25,650 Purse
DIRTcar UMP Modifieds: $8,000 to win/$25,650 Purse
DIRTcar Sportsman: $5,000 to win/$20,200 Purse
DIRTcar Pro Stocks: $4,000 to win/$17,900 Purse
602 Late Models: $3,000 to win/$11,025 Purse
Hornets: $2,500 to win/$12,450 Purse
Crate Modifieds: $2,000 to win/$8,550 Purse
Street Stocks: $2,000 to win/$8,550 Purse
Thunder Bombers: $2,000 to win/$8,550 Purse
Mini Stocks: $2,000 to win/$8,550 Purse
New for the SEHA Hornets – the sole Hornet division – this year, Friday’s races will be qualifying events for Saturday’s 20-lap Championship Feature, which will pay $2,500 to win and $250 to start. The number of drivers that lock into Saturday’s race will be determined by the number of entries.
The rest of the program will look similar to last year. Hauler load-in begins on Wednesday at 5 p.m. Thursday brings Hot Lap/Qualifying for all 10 divisions and Championship Features for the Pro Late Models, DIRTcar Sportsman, DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, and DIRTcar Pro Stocks. Friday will see a full day of racing with Heat Races for all 10 divisions, starting at 4:15 p.m. Then, the 10th World Short Track Championship will conclude on Saturday with the biggest action of the week, featuring Last Chance Showdowns at noon before going into opening ceremonies at 5 p.m.
