Lucas Lee was not going to have Sunday night’s DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals trophy leave the Volunteer State.

In the Independence Day Special at Duck River Raceway Park, the Paris, TN driver had to defend home state turf against the division’s top competitors for his eighth career tour win.

Chase Holland led the field to the green flag while Trent Young followed behind in second place. Lee followed in third place for the first half of the race, then began his battle against Holland for second place by driving his Elite Chassis to the cushion of the track while Holland stood his ground on the bottom lane.

The two drivers leaned on each other through the corners, but Holland was powerless to match Lee’s pace on the top as he got clear for second place through Turn 2 of Lap 13, as Lee mounted a charge toward Young for the top spot.

Lee kept to his line around the cushion of the Wheel, TN bullring, while Young kept his No. 10Y planted to the bottom of the surface. Though Young attempted to squeeze Lee into surrendering the battle, the No. 12L overmatched the pace as Lee got clear of Young on Lap 19.

At the helm of the field, Lee transitioned to the bottom lane and kept Young back from attempting a late-race move as he went on for his first Summit Modifieds win of 2025. The Tennesseean’s triumph ties him with 2012 champion Kenny Wallace for 10th on the all-time wins list.

Up Next: The DIRTcar Summer Nationals Late Models and DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals begin the final week of racing with Indiana’s Shadyhill Speedway commencing the start on Tuesday, July 8.
