Volusia Speedway Park is bringing more Sprint Car action to fans in 2023 with the inaugural Southern Sprint Car Shootout at the end of January – boasting a more than $60,000 overall purse.

The Series’ inaugural visit came in 2001 and was won by former World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series driver Terry McCarl. The Series was also a part of Volusia’s DIRTcar Nationals in 2004 with the World of Outlaws Late Models.

Of those winners, Gray, the defending USCS champion, will begin his quest for his 100th USCS win in 2023 at the Southern Sprint Car Shootout.

Tickets will be available at the track.

52ND DIRTCAR NATIONALS – Feb. 6-18, 2023
They all build to a marquee event for Sprint Cars, Late Models and Modifieds – the 52nd DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park.

The two-week-long event will feature the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series, World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model Series, Super DIRTcar Series, DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, DIRTcar Late Models, All Star Circuit of Champions and Non-Wing Sprint Cars – bringing the biggest names in each division to Volusia.

Five Big Gator Championship trophies will be handed out, while the iconic golden gator trophy will be awarded to every Feature winner.

The first week will feature the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds all week, along with the All Star Circuit of Champions, on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars – for their season opener – on Thursday to Saturday. The iconic Big Gator championship will be determined for the Modifieds and Sprint Cars on Saturday, Feb. 11.

After a day off on Sunday, Feb. 12, the DIRTcar Late Models and Non-Wing Sprint Cars will kick off the second week. The Non-Wing Sprint Cars will crown a Big Gator champion on Tuesday, Feb. 14, while the DIRTcar Late Models continue through Wednesday before the World of Outlaws Late Models finish out the week for the Late Models. The Super DIRTcar Series takes to the track Wednesday to Saturday – after producing five straight different winners last year.

Overall Late Model and Super DIRTcar Series Big Gator champions will be crowned on Saturday, Feb. 18, to close out the week.

Last year’s Big Gator Champions, David Gravel, Devin Moran, Jimmy Phelps, Nick Hoffman and CJ Leary will look to take home another giant gator trophy, but will have to duel with the likes of Donny Schatz, Brad Sweet, Ryan Gustin, Shane Clanton, Matt Sheppard, Mat Williamson, Kyle Strickler, David Stremme and more.
