Daryl HilkertWeedsport, NYNovember 20, 2008 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing NorthEast PR Director

Seen the latest issue of Speedway Illustrated yet? The November 2008 copy of Dick Berggren’s nationally acclaimed monthly motorsports magazine is not only filled with plenty of quality dirt racing reads, ample coverage has been provided to some of those that make their mark on the DIRTcar Racing Northeast circuit today.

Himself a Lenny J. Sammons Outstanding Contribution to Motorsports award winner during the 1998 Northeast Modified Hall of Fame induction ceremonies, Berggren has hit the hardcore trail again sharing the spotlight with DIRTcar racers and their tracks in this special autumn edition.

Airborne Speedway enjoys a two-page piece as DIRTcar Northeast’s only asphalt track is profiled by writer Al Robinson, featuring quotes from promoter Mike Perrotte and recently crowned DIRTcar 358-Modified points champion Patrick Dupree.

In the ‘Short Track World’ section, DIRTcar Sportsman Modified campaigner Chuck Winslow is highlighted along with his sons, who also compete weekly at Black Rock Speedway in companion divisions, while Daryl “Hollywood” Hilkert is recognized as a ‘Hometown Hero’ with regular Empire State stops at Canandaigua Speedway, Cayuga County Fair Speedway and Black Rock making him a true weekend warrior.

A long-time distributor of die-cast DIRTcars, with his trailer a midway weekend fixture at Orange County Fair Speedway throughout the season, Dave Morehouse is referenced by reporter/photographer Mike Adaskaveg through Dave’s Racing Collectibles that boasts a wide variety of Big-Block Modified miniatures just in time for the holidays.
