Extreme Home Makeover

Weedsport, NYOctober 29, 2008 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing NorthEast PR Director

Taped on location in late August, the highly anticipated episode of the ABC television program Extreme Makeover: Home Edition from a Geneva, New York residence is scheduled to air on Sunday, November 2 at 8 p.m., EST.

DIRTcar Racing NorthEast Sportsman Modified racer Todd Town will be among those showcased on a national stage this weekend as part of the popular ABC reality show. Town was instrumental throughout the project serving as a primary volunteer in the week-long construction effort.

Owner of Town Mechanical, Inc. based in Baldwinsville, New York and recognized locally at speedways around the Central New York circuit, Town was chosen to provide work for a home in need of vast repairs. Town Mechanical has worked often in the past with Mahoney Design & Build, the firm that oversaw the makeover of the 150 year-old house owned by Tim and Michelle Hill.

Town joined his staff of nearly two dozen on-site for seven straight days performing the required tasks in the departments of plumbing, heating and air conditioning, which TMI is known for around the area. Town, who sponsors the Sportsman Championship race at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse during Super DIRT Week in October, previously worked for over 20 years at Cayuga County Fair Speedway on the grounds of DIRTcar NorthEast headquarters in Weedsport, New York.

The upcoming TV episode features the Hills, along with their three children, who had their 3,200 square-feet home —along with a 2,800 square-feet barn that was converted into an ‘extreme gym’ for Tim— rebuilt and renovated over the summer.

Hill, 45, was an aspiring boxer whose career was cut short after he broke his back working on a construction project. He works today devoting countless hours as a youth counselor for the Council of Alcohol and Chemical Dependency, training underprivileged youths to box on a team that he created out-of-pocket a decade ago.
