DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Series kicks off June 1 at Cornwall Motor Speedway

WEEDSPORT, N.Y. – The cancellation of April’s DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Series opener pushes the series kick-off date to Sunday, June 1, at Cornwall Motor Speedway in Cornwall, Ontario. The open-wheel racing series will be joined at this early summer date by a full show for the DIRTcar Pro Stock Series.

The cancelled Sportsman Series race that had been set for Sunday, June 27, at Mohawk International Raceway in Akwesasne, N.Y., will not be rescheduled.

This year’s 13-event DIRTcar Northeast Sportsman Modified Series features a new provision which permits Series participants to drop one race from the 2014 season. This new program permits drivers wishing to travel with the series to miss one series race without impacting the end-of-season point standings. DIRTcar Officials will drop the race earning the lowest number of points from the season record of drivers who compete in all 13 DIRTcar Northeast Sportsman Modified events. Series Competitor Notes will contain more information about this new provision.

The Super DIRTcar Series and DIRTcar Racing in the Northeast Region is brought to fans by several sponsors and partners including Hoosier Racing Tire, VP Racing Fuels, Chevy Performance Parts, NAPA Auto Parts, Safety-Kleen, and Velocita USA. Contingency partners include the University of Northwestern Ohio, ASI, Bicknell Racing Products, Bilstein Shocks, Brodix, ButlerBuilt, Cometic Gasket, Comp Cams, Edelbrock, Integra Shocks, Intercomp, JE Pistons, JRI Shocks, KSE Racing Products, Motorsports Safety Systems, MSD LLC, Fox Shocks, Racing Electronics, Superflow and Wrisco Industries.
