Drake Troutman’s 2025 success on the Hell Tour can now be attributed to both his No. 22* Late Model and No. 5 DIRTcar UMP Modified.
The Hyndman, PA native earned his first career Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals Feature win on Thursday after battling points leader Trevor Neville for the night’s victory.
Troutman began the program at Lee County Speedway with a win in his Heat race, then rolled to the green flag alongside points leader Trevor Neville on the front row for the 25-lap race.
The two drivers immediately went side-by-side as Troutman chose the bottom and Neville drove towards the cushion. They swapped the lead through the first four laps of the Feature until Troutman got clear of Neville on Lap 5 by a car-length’s gap.
Troutman grew his lead to 2.4 seconds by Lap 11 until lapped traffic gave Neville the chance to drive his No. 777 Lethal Chassis back towards the No. 5 through the second half of the Feature.
Lapped traffic dominating the bottom forced Troutman to shift towards the top, as Neville continued to narrow the distance to less than one second with five laps remaining.
While Neville got to the back of Troutman, he was not close enough to make a move for the win as the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Models presented by DIRTVision Rookie of the Year contender captured his first career Summit Modifieds win at Lee County.
With his Feature triumph on Thursday night, Troutman joins Mike Harrison as the only drivers to win with both the Summer Nationals and Summit Modified Nationals.
“This is definitely a good way to close out the night,” Troutman said. “It sucks we didn’t have a better night in the Late Model, but **** happened, and we’ll get (the Late Model) ready for tomorrow night.”
