WHAT TO WATCH FOR: DIRTcar Sportsman Championship Series Heads to Ransomville

After a thrilling battle to open the DIRTcar Sportsman Series championship season, drivers will head West for a stop in New York’s Niagara Frontier.

The Series will battle at Ransomville Speedway in Ransomville, NY, on Tuesday, Aug. 12, for a 30-lap Feature paying $1,500-to-win.

Joining the DIRTcar Sportsman will be the Super DIRTcar Series, which will make its lone stop at the “Big R” in 2025.

If you can’t make it to Ransomville, watch all the action live on DIRTVision, either online or with the DIRTVision app.

Here’s a look at What to Watch For at Ransomville:

Gavin Strikes First: Last year’s Series runner-up, Gavin Eisele, struck first for the second consecutive season in the battle to become DIRTcar Sportsman Series champion by winning the opener at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park earlier this month.

The LaFargeville, NY driver, and 2025 Central Region champion, enters Tuesday with a top-five finish in his lone start at Ransomville, crossing the line fourth.

With his win at Glen Ridge, Eisele is searching for his fifth career Series victory.

Best of the West: A trip to Ransomville means an appearance by this year’s West Region champion Brett Senek and reigning DIRTcar Sportsman Series champion Cody McPherson.

Senek outdueled McPherson during the West Region visit earlier this year and has three victories at the track in 2025. The Ransomville, NY driver also hasn’t finished outside the top 10 in 11 starts at the track this season. Like Eisele, Senek is aiming for his fifth Series triumph.

McPherson, meanwhile, has more wins than any other driver in DIRTcar Sportsman Series history (25) and is the defending winner of the event.

While he’ll only be making his fourth Series start of the year on Tuesday, the St. Catharines, ON, driver has found success at Merrittville Speedway, winning 11 of the 14 Features there this season.

Bringing in Momentum: After another weekend of DIRTcar action in the Northeast, three drivers are bringing momentum into Tuesday’s race at Ransomville.

Jessica Power won on Can-Am Speedway on Friday, where she beat fellow Series competitors like Eisele and Richard Murtaugh. Then, the Kingston, ON driver backed that up one night later by winning at Brockville Ontario Speedway on Saturday to earn the weekend sweep.

Power has made 12 starts at Ransomville in her career, earning two top 10s, including a seventh in 2017. She opened the championship season with a fifth at Glen Ridge.

Shane Pecore, the 2016 Series champion, also has momentum after scoring a win at Airborne Park Speedway on Saturday night. The Cornwall, ON driver has two Series wins this season, winning on back-to-back nights at Brockville and Cornwall Motor Speedway.

Pecore hasn’t been to Ransomville since 2016, but has success in six starts. He’s earned a top five and three top 10s, including a third-place finish in 2014.

Emmett Waldron also grabbed a win on Saturday, continuing his dominant season at Fulton Speedway in 2025. The Savannah, NY driver scored his first Series victory at Fulton a few weeks ago and aims to build off a sixth-place finish at Ransomville last year.
