DIRTcar Racing Northeast officials have agreed to the following rule implementations involving its major touring divisions during the 2009 race season, effective immediately.
2008 rules will remain unchanged in 2009 for the DIRTcar Big-Block and 358-Modified classes while the following updates have been incorporated into the DIRTcar Sportsman class for the upcoming season:
1. Shocks: A shock rule is currently being developed with enforcement scheduled to begin in 2010. Only shocks up to $150 MSRP will be permitted. All shocks must also be approved and be identified as a “DIRTcar Approved shock.” The list
of approved shocks will be available in the coming months. Teams are urged to begin the switch to an approved shock during the 2009 season.
2. Rear End: The use of the V-8 Midget Rear end will not be permitted.
All 2008 rules will remain unchanged in 2009 for the DIRTcar Pro Stock class with the following exceptions:
1. Shocks: A shock rule is currently being developed with enforcement scheduled to begin in 2010. Only shocks up to $150 MSRP will be permitted. All shocks must also be approved and be identified as a “DIRTcar Approved shock.” The list
of approved shocks will be available in the coming months. Teams are urged to begin the switch to an approved shock during the 2009 season.
2. Open Motor Option: The use of Open Motor Option engines will be permitted for use in 2009 but will now be required to weigh 3200 tsp.
3. Rear End: The use of the V-8 Midget Rear end will not be permitted.
