Mr. DIRTcar Champ Trails Hitting Summer Stride

Weedsport, NYJune 30, 2010 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing Northeast PR Director

The Fourth of July holiday traditionally marks the halfway point of the season on the DIRTcar Racing Northeast circuit. And for teams competing in the four premier 2010 Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series, the first full month of summer will be even hotter as they contend in nine more special events scheduled in both Canada and the U.S.

July is easily one of the most demanding months of the entire season with seven extra-distance races on the docket for Big-Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series racers alone. The lone 358-Modified tour stop kicks off the month at Autodrome Edelweiss on July 1 and Sportsman conduct their only program during DIRTcar All-Star Weekend at Cayuga County Fair Speedway on July 17 while Pro Stockers return to action in August.

Back on the Independence Day agenda after a two-year layoff, the ‘Stars & Stripes 100’ presented by SUNY Canton at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park leads off the Big-Block assault on July 4. Cornwall (Ont.) Motor Speedway hosts its third championship trail event of the season, this time featuring leading Big-Block point chasers on the racy quarter-miler July 11.

Top traveling teams return to the states for the second edition of DIRTcar All-Star Weekend. This year Brewerton Speedway gets the three-day program underway on July 15 before Cayuga County wraps up festivities with back-to-back shows on July 16 & 17 in the nation’s richest short-track event of its kind held over the summer. The lucky seven swing through French territory concludes at autodromes Granby and Drummond with the ‘Great Canadian Tour’ closing out the Big-Block doubleheader on July 19-20.

Overall Hoosier-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar champions will be determined in 2010 by tabulating points earned in the Super DIRTcar Series for Big-Block Modifieds and the Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series for 358-Modified, Sportsman and Pro Stock teams, along with bonuses collected at a driver’s respective home track in divisional DIRTcar Regional Racing Series. Those valuable track bonus points will be issued after Labor Day with each licensed track champion receiving 1,000 points down to the 25th-place driver who earns 900 at his best track during the year.
