For the first time this season, two DIRTcar Sportsman Series regions will battle at the same facility.

Land of Legends Raceway in Canandaigua, NY, will host the Central and West regions on Saturday, June 22, in a 30-lap Feature paying $1,000-to-win. Drivers will earn points for both regions.

DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds, 305 Sprint Cars, Hobby Stocks, and Street Stocks are also on Saturday’s card.

If you can’t make it to the track, watch all the action live on DIRTVision, either online or with the DIRTVision app.

Here’s a look at What to Watch For this weekend:

Best of Both Worlds: Entering this weekend’s event at Land of Legends, Cody McPherson leads the Central and West Region point standings and is undefeated in the three DIRTcar Sportsman Series events he’s entered in 2024.

The St. Catharines, ON, driver is also on the cusp of history. A win on Saturday would put him at the top of the Series all-time wins list, breaking the tie with Brad Rouse, who has 19 victories.

McPherson made two DIRTcar Sportsman Series starts at Land of Legends in 2023, finishing fifth and 11th.

Defending the Land: Despite a 12th-place finish to open the Central Region at Weedsport, Nick Root enters this weekend’s race with momentum. The Geneva, NY driver outlasted the field last weekend to win his first DIRTcar Sportsman Feature of the season at Land of Legends.

Root is one of five drivers to find Victory Lane at the Canandaigua, NY, oval this season, including Tyler Corcoran, Zach Sobotka, Kevin Ridley, and Matt Guerreri.

Sobotka also has momentum heading into Land of Legends after winning the Feature at Brewerton Speedway last Friday. He’s won seven DIRTcar Sportsman Series Features and is currently third in the Central Region points after his podium finish at Weedsport.

Corcoran, meanwhile, already has a DIRTcar Sportsman Series win in 2024, winning the North Region opener at Can-Am in April.  He also leads the points at Land of Legends with four top-five finishes and five top 10s in five starts.

The Central Square, NY driver finished ninth at Weedsport last week.

Invaders Roll In: With two regions represented this weekend, it’s not only McPherson the Land of Legends regulars must deal with.

Adam Leslie, who’s second in the West Region standings, has finished in the top three in both West Region events in 2024. The Port Colborne, ON competitor also had a top 10 in the Central region opener at Weedsport last week, giving him four top 10s in four DIRTcar Sportsman Series starts this season.

His other top 10 came at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park in May, where he finished eighth.

Fulton Speedway points leader Kyle Devendorf and Can-Am Speedway points leader Mike Fowler are also projected to battle at Land of Legends this weekend.

Both drivers are aiming to improve their finishes from Weedsport. Fowler had carburetor and valve gasket issues and was credited with a 29th-place finish, while Devendorf finished 13th.
