WHAT TO WATCH FOR: DIRTcar Sportsman Series Takes on Ransomville in Mike Bonesky Memorial

Gavin Eisele Nick Root
Joe Grabianowski

For the third time in 10 days, the DIRTcar Sportsman Championship Series prepares for battle.

The Series makes its lone stop in Western, NY, when it visits Ransomville Speedway on Tuesday, Aug. 20, for the Mike Bonesky Memorial. The fourth annual event is one of the highest-paying events of the season with $2,500 on the line in a 30-lap Feature.

If you can’t make it to the track, you can watch all of the Super DIRTcar Series action on DIRTVision, either online or with the DIRTVision app.

Here’s a look at What to Watch for at Ransomville:

Gavin’s Groove: Gavin Eisele enters Tuesday’s Mike Bonesky Memorial on a hot streak in DIRTcar Sportsman Series action.

The LaFargeville, NY driver won both rounds of the Championship Series in 2024, holding off Nick Root at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park and Cody McPherson at Fulton Speedway.

In six DIRTcar Sportsman Series starts between regional and championship season events, Eisele has finished in the top five in all but one.

However, he’ll have to conquer a new track to keep his consistency going, as he’s never made a Series start at Ransomville.

Cody’s Consistency: McPherson, the only other driver with two top fives on the championship trail, has been the driver to beat this season at Ransomville.

McPherson has five wins in regular season competition at the track in 2024 and hasn’t finished outside the top five.

That doesn’t include his DIRTcar Sportsman Series West Region win in June, which he scored en route to the regional championship.

A win by the St. Catharines, ON driver at Ransomville would be his 26th career Series victory.

Western Flair: Some of the best Sportsman drivers from Western, NY, and Canada will wage war for Tuesday’s $2,500 prize.

That includes Brett Senek, who’s won the Mike Bonesky Memorial for the past two seasons. Senek has a win, five top fives, and nine top 10s at Ransomville this season.

Cam Tuttle is another driver to watch on Tuesday. The Wilson, NY driver has a win, nine top fives, and 10 top 10s at the track. He finished fourth in the Western Region event in May.

One more driver to watch is championship Series driver Adam Leslie. In six DIRTcar Sportsman Series starts this season, he has three podium finishes, all coming in Western Region action.

The Wainfleet, ON driver finished 10th at Glen Ridge and 13th at Fulton in championship season action.
