American Modified Series Visits Bloomington Speedway May 13, Bluegrass Speedway May 14

American Modified SeriesGlasgow, KY-May 8, 2011- The American Modified Series will present its first doubleheader weekend of the 2011 points chase as the open wheel warriors invade Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, IN on Friday May 13 and then travel south of the Ohio River for a Saturday May 14 date at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY for the 11th Annual Mod Squad Bash.

On Friday May 13 at Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, IN, the American Modified Series will present a full program of practice, group time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 30 lap, $1,500 to win A-Main event. Other divisions in competition at Bloomington Speedway on May 13 will be UMP Super Stocks, Hornets, and Bombers. This event is new on the American Modified Series schedule in 2011.

On Saturday May 14 at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY, the American Modified Series will present a full program of practice, group time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 30 lap, $1,500 to win 11th Annual Mod Squad Bash A-Main. Other divisions in competition at Bluegrass Speedway on May 14 will include Super Late Models and UMP Street Stocks. Jason Wheatley of Loretto, KY is the defending champion of this race.

Activities for the May 13 date at Bloomington Speedway will see the pit area open at 4:30 p.m., with the general admission area open at 5:30 p.m. The driver’s meeting will be at 6:20 p.m., with practice set for 6:30 p.m., followed by time trials at 7:00 p.m., and racing at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices for the May 13 Bloomington Speedway event will see general admission ticket prices be $12, with children ages 12 and under free with a paying adult, while a pit pass will be $25.

Activities for the May 14 date at Bluegrass Speedway will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., with the general admission area open at 5:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 6:00 p.m., with practice set for 6:30 p.m. Time trials will take place at 7:00 p.m., with racing set for the green flag at or before 8:00 p.m. Ticket prices for the May 14 Bluegrass Speedway event will see general admission ticket prices be $15 for adults, $8 for children ages 6 to 12, free for children under age 6, while a pit pass will be $30.

The A-Main purse for the May 13 Bloomington Speedway event and May 14 Bluegrass Speedway event is as follows: 1st- $1,500, 2nd- $750, 3rd- $600, 4th- $550, 5th- $500, 6th- $450, 7th- $400, 8th- $350, 9th- $325, 10th- $300, 11th- $275, 12th- $250, 13th- $230, 14th- $220, 15th through 22nd- $200 to start.

Bloomington Speedway is a ¼ mile semi-high banked red clay oval promoted by Mike and Judy Miles. Bloomington Speedway is located at 5185 South Fairfax Road, just off of Old State Road 37. The American Modified Series was scheduled to open its 2011 season back on Saturday May 7 at Lake Cumberland Speedway, but that event was rained out and has been rescheduled for Saturday May 28.
