Massive Rains postpone BLUEGRASS BASH until March 28-29th

Western Kentucky SpeedwayNebo, KY — Officials with the Bluegrass Bash have postponed the event originally scheduled for March 21-22nd to the following weekend due to large amounts of rain already on top of the saturated grounds of Western Kentucky Speedway. The event will proceed with the original schedule of events March 28-29th.

The Fifth Annual Bluegrass Bash presented by Hassy Chassis and In Flight Racing & Graphics for UMP Open Wheel Modifieds is now reset for Friday/Saturday March 28/29, 2008 at the Western Kentucky Speedway in Nebo, KY.

For the second year in a row, the Bluegrass Bash boasts over $27,000 in prize money with $6,000 going to the winner.

Day one of the Bluegrass Bash kicks off with an open practice session from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Saturday’s Bash events include a complete show of Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and the 40 lap A-Main event. A $450 to win/$50 to start B-Feature will be run for the top-24 drivers not making the main event on Saturday. As with last year’s event, a car show for the Modified teams will be held on Friday from 11:00 to 3:00 p.m. March 28th at Applebee’s in Madisonville, prior to the open practice session on Friday night. All times are Central Daylight.

Previous winners in the Bluegrass Bash include inaugural winner Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN in 2002, Paul Wilmoth Jr. of Clarksburg, WV in 2004, Mike Harrison of Highland, IL in 2006, and Jeff Leka of Buffalo, IL in 2007. Last year, the record was broken for pre-entries and close to 100 entries competed in the Bluegrass Bash. Jeff Leka is the only driver to finish in the top-five during each year’s Bluegrass Bash, finally taking home the $6,000 top prize during the ’07 event.
