Bissonnette claims Saturday’s DIRTcar Pro Stock Series feature race at Le RPM Speedway
ST-MARCEL-DE-RICHELIEU, QUEBEC – Saturday, September 20, 2014 – Martin Bélanger, DIRTcar Correspondent – DIRTcar Pro-Stock Series defending champion Dave Bissonnette showed all his experience on the short track by dominating the inaugural 50-lap DIRTcar Pro Stock Series event at Le RPM Speedway.
P.J. Peters had a great jump on the initial green, taking the top spot over Richard Bertrand and Dave Bissonnette.
Bissonnette had the strongest car, using the top lane to take first place over Peters in lap 4. Stephane Lebrun used the same strategy to take second while a good fight was happening for third. Roy won the battle on lap 15.
The race gained some great momentum before the first caution occurred on lap 24 with Bissonnette going from an ample lead over Lebrun to a side-by-side restart.
Bissonnette was back in the lead with Lebrun and Roy completing the podium just before Lebrun had issues with his car giving his second spot to Roy.
A lap 30 restart saw Bissonnette being challenged by Roy as Stephane Lemire was racing side-by-side with Peters for the third spot.
Lemire was able to pass Peters as Bruno Cyr made his way from the rear to grab fourth from Peters with 14 laps to go.
Bissonnette never looked back, winning his second DIRTcar event of 2014 over Roy and Lemire
“I love this place!” was the first comment of race winner Bissonnette in Victory Lane. “I wish I could come here more often at RPM, racing on the top lane reminds me a lot of Cornwall.” Bissonnette will go into the final event in a tight points battle with Roy: “Next race is Syracuse where anything can happen!
Runner-up Jocelyn Roy said, “It is fun to race here at RPM, I can’t wait to run against Bissonnette again at Syracuse, it is going to be fun!”
Local runner Stephane Lemire was also satisfied with his run. “We are happy with our race, we had a good car and was able to challenge Roy for second,” said Lemire, who is still undecided for NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week. “My team wants to go, we will make a final decision this week.”
The DIRTcar Pro-Stock Series will end at NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLIII in Syracuse, N.Y., as the 25-lap event will crown the champion on Sunday, October 12.
