Forty-Five Sportsman Modifieds Compete for Front Ten Rows of Saturday’s WSTC Feature

CONCORD, NC — Oct 27, 2017 — Forty-five VP Racing Fuels Sportsman Modifieds signed in to compete at the OneDirt World Short Track Championship at The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Rocky ‘The Flying Squirrel’ Warner set fast time over the field with a lap of 17.640.

Waterloo, New York’s Kevin Ridley started on the pole of Heat 1 and survived a caution-filled event to pick up the victory. Brandon Ford headed pitside while running in second position, allowing seventh-starting Chris Curtis to finish second with Todd Root finishing third. Kyle Inman and ninth-starting Tyler Thompson also transferred to Saturday’s Championship event.

Defending Race Champion Ronnie Davis III took the victory in Heat 2 but not without pressure from Dave Marcuccilli. Marcuccilli, coming off an impressive NAPA Super DIRT Week run, started third and closed the gap on Davis to within half a second at the finish, but was unable to complete the pass. Mike Stacey, Ricky Newton and Matt Guererri also transferred to Saturday’s Championship event.

Rooseveltown, New York’s Robert Delormier used a lap-three restart to take the lead from polesitter and early leader Eric Giguere. Brad Rouse started fifth and worked his way by Giguere, who settled for third, for the runner-up spot. Carl Soucy and eighth-starting Jessica Power transferred to Saturday’s Championship event.

Johnstown, New York’s Rocky Warner cemented himself as a favorite, dominating Heat 4. Warner took the checkered nearly two seconds in front of second place-finishing Cedric Gauvreau. Stephen Hartman III was strong coming from fifth to third, with Matt Steffenbagen and Anthony Stockman also transferring to Saturday’s Championship event.
