Northeast DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds Coming to Lake View In January

LAKE VIEW, SC – Lake View Motor Speedway owners Scott and Sophie Tripp and officials from DIRTcar are pleased to announce that the Northeast DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds will be coming south on January 28-30, 2021. The “DIRTcar South of the Border Showdown” will bring the Northeast DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds to Lake View for the first time in series history. All of the action from this inaugural event will be covered live by Speed51 TV and will be taped for a nationwide audience for a future episode of “Short Track America” on MAVTV.

“Ever since we took over at Lake View in 2018, this is something we have wanted to make happen,” said track owner Scott Tripp. Our General Manager, Tim Clemons and I grew up watching and driving Northeast DIRTcar Modifieds, so these cars are special to us and we can’t thank all the folks with DIRTcar enough for helping bring them to the Carolinas.”

The Inaugural “DIRTcar South of the Border Showdown” will bring the Northeast DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds to the Eastern Carolinas for the first time and the first time at any Carolina track other than the Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Lake View Motor Speedway will open Thursday, January 28th 2021 for open practice. The race on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Lake View Motor Speedway will be 30 laps, paying $2,000 to win and $150 to start. And on Saturday, January 30, 2021, the feature will be 51 laps, paying $3,000 to win and $200 to start.

There will be many special bonuses set up as well to increase the payout to the drivers coming from the Northeast.

“I’d like to thank Scott Tripp and Tim Clemons for reaching out to DIRTcar,” said Dean Reynolds, Director of DIRTcar Northeast. “Everyone knows these guys in the Northeast and it’s good to hear Scott and Tim are having good success down South promoting dirt track racing at Lake View Motor Speedway. As it turns out the Northeast Sportsman guys are excited to head down South near the Myrtle Beach area for another opportunity to race in the heart of stock car country.

“The idea of the weekend came up a few months ago, but we wanted to wait until the end of the season at our DIRTcar sanctioned tracks in the Northeast,” said Reynolds. “We are looking to come up with a program for our 2020 track champions to entice them to make the trip. We hope this will be the start of a weekend that we can showcase for years to come.”

Completing this exciting weekend of racing other classes include the Bell and Bell Vintage Dirt Modifieds, United CC Modified Series Mod Lites, the SRI DIRTcup Challenge Jr. Sprints, plus more classes soon to be announced. A schedule of events with more details will be released soon. Reserved seats, general admission and dry camping at the speedway will be available, along with a list of nearby hotels and campgrounds with full hookups.
