SEASON 4 SCHEDULES: Night Before the Fake 500 Coming to Season 4 Tour

10-race Tour, Street Stock schedules begin Nov. 10

The fastest growing Dirt Oval racing league on iRacing returns to the virtual track this winter with its fourth season-long installment and the biggest event ever on its flagship series.

Season 4 of the DIRTcar eSports Tour kicks off Nov. 10 with a 10-race, Wednesday night series, featuring its first-ever special event on Dec. 8. Elbows Up TV has partnered with DIRTcar eSports to co-sanction the Night Before the Fake 500 – a 360 Non-Wing Sprint Car race at Kokomo Speedway as part of Elbows Up’s annual Fake 500 asphalt extravaganza.

The Chevy Performance Street Stock League also returns for a third campaign, beginning on Nov. 10 with its second-ever appearance at Volusia Speedway Park, featuring its traditional $100-to-win, $10-to-start events and a significant rule change to open up the competition.

Both series will run through Jan. 19, concluding with a championship finale at The Dirt Track at Charlotte, where custom trophies will be awarded to each of the points championship podium finishers.

Night Before the Fake 500
For the first time ever, a 360 Non-Wing Sprint Car race will have a slot on the DIRTcar eSports Tour schedule. Co-sanctioned by sim racing group Elbows Up TV and their marquee Fake 500 event, the third annual Night Before the Fake 500 hits the virtual quarter-mile oval of Kokomo Speedway on Dec. 8.

This special event will mostly follow the format and specifics of every DIRTcar eSports Tour race, with a few twists. The exact race format used will depend on the number of entries, which is detailed at the link below.

DIRTCAR ESPORTS EVENT FORMAT

Customary to the Night Before, open setups will be permitted, allowing drivers to get creative and run a custom car setup personalized to their driving style.

Since all Tour events are fixed-setup, points-paying races, the Night Before will be a show-up points event, awarding 45 points toward the Tour championship standings to every driver who attempts to qualify for the event. Championship chasers will also be given a special make-or-break opportunity in the season finale at Charlotte on Jan. 19, where double-point values will be awarded to each of the Feature starters (1st – 150 pts, 2nd – 140 pts, 3rd – 130 pts, etc.)

As with every Tour event, participants will pay a $20 entry fee and compete for a spot in the 24-car Night Before the Fake 500 Feature, which pays $250 to the winner and $20 to all starters. Registration for this special event, and each of the other Tour events, is now open at the link above.

DIRTcar eSports Tour
Each DIRTcar eSports Tour race will pay $250 to the winner and $20 to start the Feature, rotating between a Tour-record eight different car-types – the DIRTcar-branded Pro Late Models, UMP Modifieds, 305/360 Sprint Cars, 358 Modifieds, Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds, Dirt Midgets and 360 Non-Winged Sprint Cars. Nine different tracks dot the 10-week slate, with only The Dirt Track at Charlotte appearing twice.

Chevy Performance Street Stock League
Street Stock competitors will also see a shakeup in the competition this season. The maximum iRating cap of 4,800 that has been in effect for the previous two seasons will be raised to 5,500, allowing more Street Stock drivers the chance to compete with the League. While this change does permit higher-ranked drivers to race, it does not enable Pro-license drivers to compete. They are instead invited to race with the Tour, which does not have a license or iRating cap.

While the racing program will begin with Street Stock Qualifying promptly at 7pm ET, competitors will now be given an extra 10 minutes to join the iRacing lobbies prior to showtime. Street Stocks will kick each night off with practice at 6:40pm ET and Qualifying at 7pm. The Tour session will open with practice at 7:40pm ET and follow with Qualifying.

CHOMP GOES THE CHAMP: Jackson Makes First Street Stock League Championship Official After Hackney Wins Finale at Charlotte

Team No Love finishes 1-2 in Feature, take home 2-3 in points standings

He was dubbed the “people’s champ” after winning three Chevy Performance Street Stock League races in DIRTcar eSports Season 2. Now, Tyler Jackson has made it official as the first-ever champion of the League in Season 3, locking it up after his third-place performance in the finale Wednesday night at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

Three Feature wins this season propelled the Rockford, IL-native to a 43-point lead over Carl Kilgore coming into the finale, and he was able to hold it after battling it out with Kilgore and fellow Team No Love member Keith Hackney in the closing stages.

Jackson started on the pole for the 25-lap affair and led Laps 2-13 before a big effort on a restart from Hackney gave him the opening he needed to sneak on by. Jackson took a low-to-high approach into Turns 1-2 while Hackney stayed up top and crossed down underneath him at the exit of Turn 2 to take the lead into Turn 3.

“I timed it right there on that last restart, and I knew he was gonna throw it in there on a slider. I had already backed out of it once I got up in the corner, because I was going to drive underneath him,” Hackney said.

Kilgore had to wait for his turn to pass, and finally got that opportunity with two laps remaining as he cashed-in on a big slide job attempt as they dove into Turns 1-2. Kilgore planted it on Jackson’s nose and took the spot, but Jackson returned the favor in Turns 3-4.

Kilgore stayed persistent and crossed it back underneath Jackson as they crossed under the flag stand. This time, Jackson hung back with one thing on his mind.

“Tonight, I definitely could’ve slid Keith a couple of times, but I figured I’d just roll second. I saw Carl coming and he kinda used me up going into [Turn] 1 and then slid me, but I just figured I’d let both of them go and take home the big trophy,” Jackson said.

His championship points strategy had worked – Jackson made some conservative decisions coming into the final races and points raced his way to a first big trophy. One which he will likely carry into the fall DIRTcar eSports season and try to defend.

Back out front, Hackney had driven away with the W, wrapping up his second Feature win of the year against his two biggest pieces of competition.

“Especially my teammate [Kilgore] and Tyler [Jackson] also – we were pretty much the class of the season, and it’s always fun racing with everybody,” Hackney said.

HEATED WORDS, COOLER TROPHIES: Tucker Wins Second Straight Tour Championship from Pits After Bergeron, Matjoulis Collision

Evan Seay leads all but two laps en route to third Feature win, Bergeron runner-up in points

After going eight consecutive weeks of notching nothing but wins and runner-up finishes on the DIRTcar eSports Tour, Kendal Tucker is now a two-time DIRTcar eSports Tour champion.

An incredible season for the driver from Mt. Airy, NC – notching three wins, eight top-fives, eight top-tens and all but the first event started.

“It feels good to go back-to-back in this deal,” Tucker said. “It’s the first time I’ve ever done that in a series on iRacing.”

But his podium streak was abruptly ended when some contact from an incident involving Alex Bergeron and Blake Matjoulis on Lap 5 spilled over into his path. Matjoulis and Bergeron came together at the exit of Turn 4, nearly sending Bergeron completely around in front of the field.

His spinning momentum caught the nose of Richard Murtaugh Jr. and then sent him through the Turn 1 grass, back up onto the track and right into the side of Tucker, who collected several other innocent bystanders in a wild flipping sequence in Turns 1-2. Tucker nursed his heavily damaged racecar back to the pits under the yellow but was met with terminal damage upon arrival at his pit stall, forcefully ending his night.

However, coming into the event a secure 75 points ahead of Bergeron in the Tour standings, the championship gold was not lost. Neither was the love between the drivers in the DIRTVision post-race interviews regarding the incident.

“Not much of a surprise coming from the 12 car,” Tucker said. “He has no regard for people around him on the track, it seems like. Goes into the infield when he had some bad luck and comes up in front of everybody else trying to compete for position on the track.”

Bergeron repaired his car, restarted from the rear of the field and went on an incredible passing spree over the next 45 circuits, crossing the stripe third by the drop of the checkered.

“We were definitely the fastest driver out here tonight,” Bergeron said. “It’s just sad that we get wrecked intentionally every week… We did everything we could and went from nearly dead last to up to the front.”

In the end, two spots ahead of Bergeron was the one true dominant force of the race – Evan Seay. The Chesnee, SC-driver led almost all 50 laps of the Bicknell Racing Products Big Block Modified Feature at The Dirt Track at Charlotte and scored his third $250 check of Season 3.

“It’s difficult to win these races with them being fixed [setup],” Seay said. “You’ve gotta figure out what line to run and be better at that line than everybody else.”

While Tucker held the virtual championship trophy high in Victory Lane at the end of the night, he was only credited with a 23rd-place finish, much to his disappointment.

“I definitely thought we could have competed for another win,” Tucker said. “It’s probably one of my favorite tracks on here, so for the night to end pretty early, it definitely stings a little bit.”

BERGERON’S BACK: Pro Series Sprint Car Champ Gets 358 Modified Victory at USA Int’l

Points difference now at 75, Tucker will clinch championship next week at Charlotte

He’s a multi-time World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Series Sprint Car iRacing World champion, and now the winner of the first-ever DIRTcar 358 Modified race contested on the DIRTcar eSports Tour.

Alex Bergeron showed an impressive display of resiliency Wednesday night at USA International Speedway, holding off defending Tour champion Kendal Tucker for over half the race to pick up his first Tour victory of the season with the VP Racing Fuels 358 Modifieds.

“We did what we had to do – protect the line there in [Turns] 3-4 and got the win. Pretty happy about this,” Bergeron said.

This win comes as a bit of redemption for the Team ABR leader after a costly penalty nixed his win in the 360 Sprint Car race last week, handing the victory over to Tucker. But this week was a different story – both drivers battled hard, but clean, and put on a show for the DIRTVision presented by Drydene audience.

While Richard Murtaugh Jr. led the field around the big 3/4-mile for the first 18 circuits, Bergeron was forced to wrestle the lead away from him in a big slide job-fest that lasted several laps and involved most of the top-five.

Once Bergeron grabbed the lead, his competition was in trouble. Tucker was his biggest thorn-in-the-side through the rest of the race, clinging right to his rear bumper, just waiting for a mistake to be made by the leader.

But a mistake never showed from the ABR #12. Bergeron led the final 22 laps to pick up his first $250 check of the season and first since January 6 of Season 2.

“I always had great restarts, and made the most out of it,” Bergeron said. “We just had to stay really patient and try not to make any mistakes out front – it’s always easy to make mistakes when you’re leading.”

Tucker crossed the stripe in second, extending his streak of top-two finishes to a whopping eight in his eight starts this season. Now sitting an even 75 points ahead of Bergeron in the standings, Tucker will hoist his second consecutive DIRTcar eSports Tour trophy next week after the Big Block Modifieds wrap up the season in the 10th and final race of Season 3 at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

STREET STOCK LIMBO: Kilgore Bests Jackson in Low-Groove Battle at Williams Grove

Jackson takes 43-point lead into final race next Wednesday at The Dirt Track at Charlotte

The two biggest forces in the Chevy Performance Street Stock League have battled neck-and-neck all season long, and it came to a boiling point on Wednesday night at Williams Grove Speedway – just one week out from their epic championship finale.

With points, pride and money on the line, Carl Kilgore hung tough out front of points leader Tyler Jackson through 20 defensive laps on the very bottom of the track, enduring relentless pressure from behind to win his fourth Feature of the season.

“I love it when this place gets around the bottom,” Kilgore said. “It’s a hit-your-mark kind of place and we just hit ‘em every lap.”

With both drivers making up the front row for the initial start, Kilgore, of Greenville, MS, had to get a great start to get the jump on Jackson and win the battle heading into Turn 1. Which, he did, setting him right up for a non-stop defensive battle on the bottom over the next 20 circuits.

Jackson, of Rockford, IL, did all he could to try and pry the top spot from Kilgore’s hands, but could only muster a few thwarted pass attempts by the checkered flag. Digging harder every lap, Jackson tried and tried to get even lower than Kilgore on the track but could not do so without hitting the inside wall.

In the final laps, Jackson knew he had to try something quick. He drove his Osman Racing #25 in deep and gave Kilgore a few taps on the quarter-panel to try and break the defending race winner loose, but was unsuccessful in the end.

“He left a little crack open down there and I figured I’d shove it in there and see what happened, but he did a good job of cutting back down,” Jackson said.

Kilgore was able to hold it together and drive back around to the stripe to collect another $100 prize check.

Coming into Wednesday night, Jackson sat a comfortable 48 points ahead of Kilgore in the standings, on the back of three Feature wins since the start of the season. With Kilgore’s fourth win of DIRTcar eSports Season 3 Wednesday, he shaves five points off Jackson’s lead heading into the final race at Charlotte.

And while 43 points in one race is a lot to make up, considering Jackson’s finishes this season, Kilgore’s not out yet. A big wreck, technical difficulties or one bad miscue somewhere in the qualifying events does have the potential to ruin Jackson’s lead.

Kilgore has the scenario in the back of his mind, but isn’t going to let that distract him from getting a fifth win next Wednesday night on DIRTVision presented by Drydene.

“We’re gonna give it our all, but we’re here for the $100-to-win though,” Kilgore said.
