Billy Decker takes aim at first career Big Diamond win at July 15 Super DIRTcar Series race

Big-Block Modifieds head to Big Diamond Speedway for Big-Block Brawl

WEEDSPORT, N.Y. — For the first time in a half-decade, the Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified Series returns to Big Diamond Speedway in Pottsville, Penn., Tuesday, July 15 (rain date Wednesday, July 16). The $6,000-to-win, 75-lap Big Block Brawl pits the series stars against the best Modified racing talent in Pennsylvania.

“It brings a lot of competition into town,” said series driver Billy Decker, who is coming off a series victory at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge, N.Y. “If you want to see everybody, you’re going to have to be at a Super DIRTcar Series race.”

Decker, who is running the Super DIRTcar Series full-time for the first time in several years, is pleased to see new tracks added to the tour.

“We’re tickled to be able to have tracks come on board and support the Super DIRTcar Series, on behalf of all the drivers,” he said. “I still think, and I’m certainly not alone in this, that it’s the best series around for us. I’m glad to see it get the support it’s getting, and hopefully it continues to grow.”

When the series last raced at Big Diamond Speedway, Duane Howard, of Oley, Penn., took the 2009 victory in the 75-lap feature race. This year, Decker, who recently ousted defending Super DIRTcar Series Champion Brett Hearn for the second spot in point standings, hopes to put up a good fight against the local Pennsylvania racers.

“We were down there this spring, and it’s the best it’s raced in a long time,” Decker said of Big Diamond Speedway’s three-eighths-mile high-banked oval. Decker finished fifth in April’s DIRTcar 358-Modified race at Big Diamond and is aiming for victory in July’s feature. “I have a little bit of experience there, I just don’t have any wins there.”

Grandstand gates open at 5 p.m. and pit gates open at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, at Big Diamond Speedway with warm-upsscheduled to begin at 7 p.m. For more information about the Super DIRTcar Series, visit www.superdirtcarseries.com.
