Weedsport, NYOctober 6, 2008 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing NorthEast PR Director

A familiar name and logo will be highly prominent when the 37th annual 200-lap Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series race at the New York State Fairgrounds takes center stage on Sunday, October 12 as Rite Aid continues its association with the richest DIRTcar Big-Block Modified event in the nation.

“We are proud to maintain our position as the official sponsor of the Rite Aid 200 as we continue to integrate Eckerd stores and the Eckerd brand into Rite Aid,” said Jay Ross, Rite Aid vice president of marketing. “This is a great, long-standing event with many dedicated fans and Rite Aid is thrilled to continue to support this exciting race in 2008.”

Tabbed as the Eckerd 200 to kick off the new millennium with the first Big-Block 200-lapper on the Syracuse Mile, the World Racing Group announced in July of 2007 that Rite Aid Corporation would sponsor the premier event at Super DIRT Week in Syracuse, NY and it was renamed the Rite Aid 200 from that point on.

“We’re proud to retain such a great partnership with Rite Aid, it’s a feather in the cap for our organization as well our loyal fans,” said Ben Geisler, World Racing Group chief marketing officer. “Rite Aid’s promotional support for Super DIRT Week, as well as Rite Aid 200 Qualifier Races throughout the season, is appreciated and reciprocated by fans across the entire northeast.”

Throughout the season, Rite Aid’s promotional program for the Rite Aid 200 has included driver appearances, show car displays and ticket give-aways at Rite Aid Pharmacies in conjunction with ten selected Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series/Rite Aid 200 Qualifier Races. Additional fan promotions will be in effect for Super DIRT Week’s Rite Aid 200.

On June 4, 2007, Rite Aid completed its purchase of the Brooks and Eckerd drugstore chains, creating the largest drugstore chain on the East coast and significantly strengthening its position as the third largest national drugstore chain.
