South Buxton,ONT — Defending champions Chris Ross and Brian Ruhlman will put their crowns on the line at the fifth annual South Buxton Raceway Shootout on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Ross, from Wallaceburg Ont., made history by becoming the first Canadian to win the Castrol UMP Late Model Shootout last September.
Ruhlman, from Clarklake, Mich., won the inaugural Advantage Warehouse UMP Modifieds division last fall. He finished third in the Late Model portion of the Shootout.
Jon Henry, of Ada Ohio, who ran second in both the Late Model and Modified ‘A’ Mains, is also returning for the 2009 Shootout, along with 2007 Late Model winner Rusty Schlenk of Jackson, Mich.
Several other drivers from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin and Montana have confirmed their entries, joining South Buxton’s Ultimate Sandblasting UMP Late Model and Schinkel’s Gourmet Meats UMP Modified full classes.
The Castrol UMP Late Models will be racing for $4,000 to win ($400 to make the ‘A’ Main) while the Advantage Warehouse UMP Modifieds will race for $2,500 to win ($250 to make the ‘A’ Main).
Drivers interested in competing in the 2009 Shootout are asked to pre-register. Entry forms can be found at www.southbuxtonraceway.com. The full payout is also posted on the track’s web site.
The pits open at 2 p.m., grandstand at 3 p.m. with the heat races starting at 7 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, Sept. 27.
