VP Racing Fuels Posts Over $50,000 in Awards for DIRTcar NE Racers In 2009

VP Racing FuelsWeedsport, NYJuly 2, 2009 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing Northeast PR Director

As the Official Fuel of DIRTcar Racing and the Super DIRTcar Series, VP Racing Fuels continues to provide aggressive promotional programs designed for DIRTcar sanctioned tracks while giving competitors a variety of incentives to remain a vital part of the World Racing Group — the premier dirt short-track motorsports sanctioning body in America today.

“In appreciation of all the support already shown by race teams in the Northeast, we’re pleased to be able to reward all the track champions in the touring divisions and present a variety of special awards at the end of the 2009 season,” said VP’s Eastern Regional Manager Jim Kelly. “VP has fueled many winners at Syracuse in the past so we also want to recognize each class with a special award during Super DIRT Week.”

VP Racing Fuels officials have printed fuel certificates valued at nearly $30,000 to be given away to all 2009 DIRTcar Racing Big-Block Modified, 358-Modified, Sportsman Modified and Pro Stock track point champions, as well as those placing 10th and 12th in their respective division. The fast time trialer/qualifier in those same divisions at Super DIRT Week XXXVIII, October 6-11, at the New York State Fairgrounds will also share $3,000 in the annual Salt City showdown on the famed Syracuse Mile.

In addition, VP Racing Fuels has posted $500 awards for the Big-Block Modified fast qualifier and fastest non-qualifier that does not make the starting grid in the upcoming $20,000-to-win Super DIRTcar Series ‘All-Star 100’ on July 19 at Cayuga County Fair Speedway. Still another $12,000 has been set aside for the top-three point-earners ($3,000, $2,000, $1,000) in the overall Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Championships for Big-Block and 358-Modified teams when DIRTcar Northeast concludes its 34th successive season of operation in autumn.

A $500 fuel certificate awaits each Big-Block and 358-Modified track champion while $250 is the product prize posted for every Sportsman and Pro Stock points king declared after Labor Day. $250 goes to the 10th and 12th-place Big-Block and 358-Mod finishers while 10th and 12th-place in the Sportsman and Pro Stock ranks stand to collect $150 each. Any DIRTcar track not allowing VP exclusive on-site fuel sales for the entire season or failing to provide any of the other entitlements or obligations agreed to by contract will be exempt from this program.

In October, the Super DIRT Week Rite Aid 200 and 358-Modified Championship fast timers will both receive a $1,000 fuel certificate while top qualifiers in the Town Mechanical 30 Sportsman and Pro Stock main events will collect $500.

With even more to offer, VP Racing Fuels has tacked on a $1,000 product bonus to the driver tallying the most DIRTcar feature wins (Big-Block, 358, Sportsman or Pro Stock) in ’09, with a unique $5,000 grand prize given to the ‘VP Racing Fuels Track of the Year’ based on distribution to their core group of Big-Block and/or 358-Modified racers. Among the criteria considered for the first-ever VP Track of the Year designation —as determined by a committee of VP Racing Fuels and DIRTcar representatives— are fuel checks and volume of VP sold, prominent signage, decal and patch compliance.

Mr. DIRTcar and Super DIRT Week award winners will be recognized at the DIRTcar NE ‘Night of Champions’ in November while all VP Racing Fuels speedway awards will be presented at the individual track banquets, with fuel certificates redeemable from their local trackside vendors in 2010. Awards are contingent upon proper display of decals on car and patches on uniform along with proof of weekly fuel purchases made.

Race teams should contact the DIRTcar Northeast office in Weedsport, New York (315/834-6606) if in need of additional VP Racing Fuels uniform patches and car decals that are required for competition in all Big-Block and 358-Modified events held in 2009. As per the 2008-09 DIRTcar Racing NE Rule Book (p. 22, 5.20.16), no other fuel company logos are permitted to be displayed anywhere on the race car and driver’s uniform, and those that are in conflict MUST be removed.

For specific questions regarding rules and rewards, DIRTcar NE Director of Competition & Track Sanctioning Cory Reed can be reached at 315/224-9009. Additional concerns about VP Racing Fuels can be addressed to Jim Kelly (302/368-1500) with support always provided by VP’s Technical Consultant for Oval Track Racing Engines Freddie Turza (302/521-1767).
