Dundee, NY — April 3, 2009 – By Rich Vleck, Black Rock Speedway PR
They say April Showers Bring May Flowers.
In the case of Black Rock Speedway, April showers are already forcing track officials to reschedule events including the highly anticipated Rock Launcher ’09. Originally slated for Saturday, April 4, Black Rock’s 51st season-opening event has been moved to Sunday, April 5.
The only notable change to the Sunday agenda is that all times have been pushed back two hours. Pit gates will now unlock at 10:00a.m. with hot laps starting at 12:00noon and time trials for select classes going off at 1:30p.m. Grandstand gates will swing open at 1:00p.m.
Rain and near-freezing temperatures forced the second cancellation in as many days at Black Rock. As was the case in 2008, April 5 is now the scheduled opener at The Rock and the all-new racing course. It is the first event that will be run on a Sunday in Dundee and the current weather forecast is indicating warmer temperatures and clearer skies; mid 50’s and mostly sunny with less wind and plenty of racing!
