Grayville, IL — Contingency awards totaling nearly $20,000 have been posted for the UMP DIRTcar Racing Summer Nationals, the grueling month-long Super Late Model tour of the Midwest that kicks off tonight (Thurs., June 11) at Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway.
More than a half-dozen companies are listed as supporters of the aptly-named ‘Hell Tour,’ which visits 27 tracks over a 31-day period in a true test of man and machine.
“We’re appreciative of all the companies that are part of the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals,” said UMP DIRTcar Racing director Sam Driggers. “It’s the backing of these sponsors that makes the Summer Nationals more attractive to the racers and allows us to continue building the ‘Hell Tour’ into one of the country’s most unique and exciting Super Late Model series.”
Among the major backers of the Summer Nationals is VP Racing Fuels, the Official Racing Fuel of DIRTcar Racing. VP will have a big presence throughout the series, servicing the racers and offering a total of $150 in product certificates to three A-Main starters each night.
VP Racing Fuels will have a fuel truck at almost every Summer Nationals event. VP representatives will pour VP113, Late Model Plus, M1 methanol and other VP products at each track from the time the pit gates officially open until at least the conclusion of Super Late Model heat races.
In addition, VP Racing Fuels has posted product certificates in the sum of $75 for the fifth-place finisher, $50 for the 10th-place finisher and $25 for the 15th-place finisher in each Summer Nationals A-Main. Teams must use VP Racing Fuel and display a VP decal to be eligible for the certificates, which can be redeemed each night at the track or at VP Regional Distribution Centers in Newark, Del.; Barnett, Ga.; Terre Haute, Ind.; and San Antonio, Texas.
Quarter Master Racing Clutches & Driveline Components will also reward three drivers with product certificates at each Summer Nationals event. The Lake Zurich, Ill.-based firm will provide certificates worth $100 to the winner, $50 to the fifth-place finisher and $25 to the 10th-place finisher in each A-Main, contingent upon the display of a Quarter Master decal.
Other contingency awards requiring the mandatory display of company decals have been posted by ASI Racewear, the Official Apparel Company of UMP DIRTcar Racing ($50 certificate for the Hard Charger Award winner and $50 certificate for the first alternate who does not make the A-Main each night); Integra Shocks ($50 certificate to overall fast qualifier at each track); and Wrisco Aluminum (three sheets of aluminum to each A-Main winner).
Meanwhile, Hoosier Racing Tires (Official Racing Tires of UMP DIRTcar Racing) and the University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH) are supporting the Summer Nationals with points-fund contributions and thus decals of both sponsors must be displayed by tour competitors.
