LONG TIME COMING: Rumsey Scores First Tour Victory at Eldora

Over 15 career starts for Logan Rumsey on the DIRTcar eSports Tour, but never once a trip to Victory Lane. That was, until Wednesday night, when the NOS Energy Drink Midgets came to Eldora Speedway.

Rumsey, of Manchester, PA, was like clockwork all event long, setting fast time in Qualifying, winning his Heat Race and leading all 20 laps of the Feature en route to a $250 check and his first-ever DIRTcar eSports Tour victory.

Evan Seay, of Chesnee, SC, came into the event with a slim points lead over Alex Bergeron and CFM eSports teammate Blake Matjoulis, but was involved in an early race incident, setting him several laps back on the field with a 23rd-place finish. Matjoulis finished on the podium, while Bergeron placed eighth, making for a near three-way tie for the points lead heading into the final showdown next Wednesday night, when the Bicknell Racing Products Big Block Modifieds take on The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

STEADY AS SHE GOES: Dylan Houser rides high line to DIRTcar eSports Midget victory

The DIRTcar eSports Midget debut at Lanier provided a plethora of exciting moments from start to finish

Dylan Houser stuck to his plan and became victorious. He didn’t let the pressure of others sway his mentality. Nor did he buckle under that pressure either.

He demonstrated the importance of a smooth and steady race during the first-ever DIRTcar eSports Midgets presented by NOS Energy Drink event Tuesday night at Lanier National Speedway, and became $250 richer because of that.

Mason Hannagan and Kendall Tucker were the class of the 24-car field, leading the majority of the race between them. Hannagan took the early lead but was unable to shake Tucker. While Hannagan rolled the bottom, Tucker found virtual grip around the top of the track and drove by him for the lead on Lap 4.

There was then a war, worthy of a Game of Thrones episode, from second to seventh with drivers crisscrossing every turn. Their bumpers were used as swords, for both attack and defense, and there was little care for personal space as they slid within inches of each other.

Hannagan had to fight off the likes of two-time iRacing World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car World Championship titleholder Alex Bergeron, Evan Seay and Houser – making his way from seventh in his #2 Midget – for second. He was able to do so for the majority of the event, especially when Bergeron was spun late in the event.

However, while everyone moved to the top during the second half of the event, including the leader, Houser committed himself to the top. Up there, he looked like a man running a mountain top while everyone else was at the base. But with an easy throttle and steady hands, Houser was flawless around the high line. He made his way to second and Tucker’s bumper as the checkered flag neared.

While Tucker continued to run the bottom, Houser slowly edged his way further and further alongside Tucker’s #00 Midget. He edged him by a nose for the lead and was able to hold it for a late-race caution.

When the race resumed, Houser returned to the top of the track and cruised his way to a big win in DIRTcar eSports competition with Tucker second and Hannagan third.

He stuck to his plan… and became victorious.

Due to unfortunate technical difficulties, the winner was unable to be interviewed.

The DIRTcar eSports Tour action continues next Wednesday, May 5, with the return of the Big Blocks presented by Hoosier Racing Tires at Cedar Lake Speedway.

Check out the entire race broadcast livestream for FREE on DIRTVision presented by Drydene or on the DIRTcar Facebook page at 7:50pm ET.

SEASON 3 IS HERE: Big Blocks Form Core of DIRTcar eSports Tour, Street Stocks Return

Four DIRTcar-branded divisions plus Midgets also included in 10-race slate

The ground-pounding, earth-shaking, window-rattling Beasts of the Northeast Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds are back in all of iRacing’s virtual glory as the star attraction of DIRTcar eSports Season 3.

The virtual Big Blocks, which reached season-high car counts last season, are back as the focus of a 10-race Tour, every Wednesday from March 24 to May 26, for Season 3 – one that also includes the return of the Chevy Performance Street Stock League for its second season.

TOUR REGISTRATION
STREET STOCK REGISTRATION

Beginning with the first race at Weedsport Speedway on March 24, the Big Blocks will contest five races on the Season 3 Tour, alternating each Wednesday night with 360 Sprint Cars, Pro Late Models, UMP Modifieds, 358 Modifieds and the first-ever appearance by dirt Midgets. iRacing’s newest dirt track at Bristol Motor Speedway also has its spot on the docket, setting the stage for a Week 2 showdown with the UMP Modifieds.

All 10 races will be $250-to-win and pay back through the Feature field. Commemorative trophies will be awarded to the podium finishers in the final points standings after the Week 10 finale at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

The Chevy Performance Street Stock League will also begin March 24, setting out on a 10-race championship chase of its own. Racing across eight different tracks, competitors will chase a $100 top prize each night as Feature winner.

New to the Street Stock campaign in Season 3 is the highly requested addition of a points championship system, mirroring that of the DIRTcar eSports Tour. Trophies will be awarded to the podium finishers in final points after 10 races.

Following the precedent set in Season 2, the Street Stock League will once again be held with the more causal sim racer in mind, and thus only be available for competitors with iRatings 4800 and below.

Every race will once again be broadcasted on DIRTVision presented by Drydene, free to all account holders. Street Stocks will kick each night off with practice at 6:50pm ET and Qualifying at 7pm. The Tour session will open with practice at 7:50pm ET and follow with Qualifying.

Registration for each race tentatively closes the Monday before each event and is now open for all 10 events in each league.
