JACK-vs-HACK: Jackson Goes Back-and-Forth with Hackney, Wins Street Stocks at Limaland

Kilgore places 19th, loses ground on points leader Jackson while Hackney rebounds

Although he recently traded-in some of his iRacing experience in for some seat time in a real-world DIRTcar Stock Car, Tyler Jackson proved Wednesday night that he still knows how to wheel it in the virtual world, too.

Leading all but four laps in the seventh race of the Chevy Performance Street Stock League, Jackson, of Rockford, IL, went head-to-head in a fierce home-stretch battle to the checkers with defending Limaland Feature winner Keith Hackney, of Calhoun, GA, to collect his third win of DIRTcar eSports Season 3.

Jackson took off from the third starting spot, grabbed the lead from polesitter Aidan Skraha on Lap 3 and began his defense of the top spot right away, as Hackney went right with him and slipped into second shortly thereafter.

Hackney hammered the top side of the 3/10-mile lap-after-lap and kept pace with Jackson’s #25 until he decided to make a daring move for the lead with under five laps remaining. A big slide job in Turns 3-4 by Hackney caused a bit of contact as they sailed through the turns, but Jackson was able to keep momentum and returned the favor in Turn 1-2.

“I saw Keith coming and had to make a move to try and win the race,” Jackson said. “So we battled it out, and he threw kind of a nasty slide job but he owed me one from the Heat, so it’s all good from here.”

The two exchanged slide jobs several times more over the final two laps until Jackson went low to protect the lead on the final lap. Hackney drove it in deep underneath one final time in Turn 3, but it wasn’t enough. Jackson survived the bumper tap and drove away with his third $100 payday of the season.

With his third win of the season, Jackson now extends his points lead over Carl Kilgore. It was a rough night for the Greenville, MS-native, who had made it up to fifth before contact with Skraha sent him backwards in the final laps, leaving him with a 19th-place finish.

To a bunch of his on-virtual-track success, Jackson attributes his time on the sim rig. Last weekend, he got his first taste of a real-life DIRTcar Stock Car in a weekly event at Fairbury Speedway – just one of several events he plans to compete in this year, using what he’s gathered on the virtual track.

“Even though we crinkled-up some fenders, I went down and helped Greg [Osman, car owner] beat some of that stuff out. We’ll be back racing Macon [Speedway, Illinois] Memorial Day,” Jackson said.

The Chevy Performance Street Stock League is back in action next Wednesday night for Round #8 of DIRTcar eSports Season 3 at the Eldora Speedway. Catch all the action live on DIRTVision presented by Drydene.

PASS THROUGH THE GRASS: Jackson makes wild pass for DIRTcar eSports Street Stock win

Tuesday’s race at Lernerville Speedway was one of the closest finish in the history of the Series

Tyler Jackson wrote a new definition for the term “go where they aren’t” during Tuesday night’s DIRTcar eSports Chevrolet Performance Street Stock race at Lernerville Speedway.

With nine laps to go, Carl Kilgore left a crack in the doorway to the lead with a patch of grass in the opening. For Jackson, that was good enough. He tossed his #25 underneath Kilgore in Turn 3 and ran his way through the grass to complete the pass off Turn 4.

His daring move secured him the win and the $100 check that comes with it.

Before then, Jackson and Kilgore put on a barnburner throughout the 30-lap iRacing event. Jackson got the early lead and held it for the early portion of the race, but 21 never let him out of his sight.

By the halfway point, Kilgore scared Jackson into moving his line. The #25 ripped the top for the majority of the race, but after Kilgore snuck underneath him the lap prior, Jackson dove to the bottom in Turns 1 and 2 to block Kilgore’s momentum. That moved hindered his run off the corner, though, and gave Kilgore another opportunity to pounce.

When they entered Turn 3, Kilgore dove underneath Jackson and claimed the lead. On the next lap, Jackson’s loss of momentum continued as Keith Hackney also dove underneath him and stole second. However, Jackson wasn’t willing to lay down.

He dove underneath Hackney in Turns 1 and 2, and the two slammed doors all the way down the backstretch. Jackson’s relentless drive won the battle as he drove back by Hackney for second.

The hunt was on. Jackson got his feet back underneath him and began running Kilgore down. A caution with nine laps to go further assisted with his efforts.

When the green flag initiated the continuation of the race, Jackson found the crack in the doorway and went where Kilgore wasn’t – further than anyone had gone. But he wasn’t going to let the win slip through his fingers.

Kilgore fought back, staying on Jackson’s bumper on the final lap and attempting a slide job in Turns 3 and 4 with the checkered flag in the air. Jackson was able to get the better run off the turn and edge Kilgore at the line by 0.097 sec. – one of the closest finishes in DIRTcar eSports Street Stock history.

Due to unfortunate technical difficulties, the winner was unable to be interviewed.

The DIRTcar eSports Street Stock action continues next Wednesday, May 5, with the Chevrolet Performance Street Stocks at Limaland Motorsports Park.

LOVE RESTORED: Kilgore Reunites with Teammate Hackney, Bags 1-2 Street Stock Finish at Cedar Lake

Former Extreme Savage duo jumps to Team No Love after Week 4 incident

After their unfortunate falling out in last week’s showing at Fairbury Speedway, Carl Kilgore and Keith Hackney have reunited as teammates on a new team and worked their magic Wednesday night at Cedar Lake Speedway to get Kilgore his second Chevy Performance Street Stock League Feature win of the season.

“We’re feeling good, especially after what happened last week,” Kilgore told Chase Raudman in the DIRTVision post-race interview. “Glad to be back on teams with Hackney – he’s a good dude. We had some trouble last week, but without all of our teammates and us being together, I can’t do this right here.”

Hackney, of Calhoun, GA, was penalized to the tail of the lead lap after the checkered in last week’s Feature due to contact with Kilgore wile racing for the lead on the final lap. Kilgore spun and was left with a 16th-place result, Hackney in 21st, while Tyler Jackson ran off with the win and a nice lead in the point standings.

But that’s all behind them now. The two put their differences aside over the week and straight-up dominated Wednesday night, starting on the front row after back-to-back Heat Race wins.

At the drop of the green, Kilgore, of Greenville, MS, immediately took off and never looked back, leading all 25 laps en route to his $100 victory.

“We’ve got a little bit of a gap to make up, but I feel like as long as we keep doing what we’re doing, we’ll be there,” Kilgore said.

Hackey did a solid job for his teammate in fending off the pressure from the rest of the field behind him, crossing the stripe in second for another good points race.

While he was able to nurse the hurt car home to a third-place finish, Jackson, of Rockford, IL, almost found himself in deep trouble about halfway through the race.

A slower car had gone over the outside wall in Turns 1-2 and proceeded to re-enter the track right in front of the leaders under green, causing a multi-car crash down the backstretch that tagged Jackson. He was able to drive out of the situation with control, but the damage had already been done to his right-front wheel well.

With the right-front pushed in, Jackson switched to the high line for the remainder of the race and fought back to a third-place result, likely saving his points lead.

The Chevy Performance Street Stock League is back in action next Tuesday night, April 27, with race #6 and a visit to Lernerville Speedway. Check out the entire race broadcast livestream for FREE on DIRTVision presented by Drydene or on the DIRTcar Facebook page at 6:50pm ET.

T-JACK IS BACK: Jackson Wins 4th Career Street Stock Race in FALS Thriller

Kilgore, Hackney collide in closing laps, Bellomy Hard Charger in 24th-7th drive

DIRTcar eSports’ all-time winningest Dirt Street Stock driver is back.

Tyler Jackson, of Rockford, IL, put it in Fairbury Speedway Victory Lane Wednesday night, winning the fourth race of the Chevy Performance Street Stock League for his fourth career victory with the League in a very rough-and-tumble Feature event.

“I’m not gonna lie, it took a little longer than I would have liked it to in race #4,” Jackson told DIRTcar eSports announcer Chase Raudman in the DIRTVision post-race interview. “But the competition level is a lot higher than it was last year. It was a great race – I’m still catching my breath.”

While Jackson started inside Row 2, just ahead of him was last week’s Feature winner and Street Stock bigwig, Carl Kilgore. He and his #021 took off from the pole and appeared to have the car to beat until Jackson’s car came in and took the lead just slightly past the halfway point. The two played cat-and-mouse around the virtual quarter-mile before a dramatic ride to the finish presented itself on a restart with just three laps remaining.

Jackson took the inside lane for the restart and threw a big slide job on Kilgore in Turns 1-2. Kilgore, of Greenville, MS, turned it back underneath him and returned the favor in Turns 3-4, but only slightly. Jackson kept his foot in the accelerator on the very top side and retained the spot as they crossed the stripe.

“That’s what won me the race,” Jackson said. “I knew I had to get a good start with him.”

Two more slide jobs by Kilgore on the following lap were unsuccessful in stealing Jackson’s spot. But as he prepared for what was likely going to be a third, Kilgore received a rear bumper full of former Extreme Savage teammate, Keith Hackney.

Hackney’s and Kilgore’s bumpers met at the entrance to Turn 1, sending Kilgore around, collecting several other cars.

“I got into him a little bit. I apologize for that, majorly. I didn’t want to have second that way, by no means,” Hackney said after the race.

As Hackney, of Calhoun, GA, drove away with the spot, several other wrecks unfolded around the track, and Kilgore was left with a 17th-place finish. Hackney was later penalized to the tail of the lead lap (21st) by League admins in post-race examination for the incident.

This moved Nathan Lemons up into second and Jamie Massey into third, marking the best finishes of their DIRTcar eSports careers.

The Chevy Performance Street Stock League action continues next Wednesday night, April 21, at the Cedar Lake Speedway. Catch all the action live and FREE on DIRTVision presented by Drydene.
