KILLED IT, AGAIN: Kilgore Dominates Street Stock League at Eldora for Second Career Win

The Extreme Savage Racing pilot has done it again.

Carl Kilgore took hold of the Chevy Performance Street Stock League field Wednesday night and flat-out dominated it, winning his Heat Race and leading all 20 laps of the Feature to score his second career DIRTcar eSports victory and first of the season.

“It’s a blast around this joint because I love bangin’ the boards,” Kilgore said.

And “bang the boards” he did, as Kilgore, of Greenville, MS, stuck to the high line throughout the Feature and held off some very tough customers behind him in last week’s winner (and teammate) Keith Hackney and Jesse Wall.

The high pressure from the competition behind him reached a fever pitch in the home stretch, as two attempts at a green-white-checkered finish were presented to the field. Wall and Hackney gave it all they had, but in the end, Kilgore prevailed.

“We made a mistake on that first one, but luckily we had a caution and was able to re-rack ‘em,” Kilgore said. “We hit our marks for the last two laps and that was all she wrote.”

The Chevy Performance Street Stock League is back in action next Wednesday night, April 14, at the Fairbury Speedway – catch all the action live on DIRTVision.

PLAY DEFENSE: Hackney Protects Lead, Wins First Career Street Stock League Race at Limaland

Jackson, Kilgore score more top-five finishes, now top points standings

Three laps remaining. Restart upcoming. Keith Hackney had one shot to clinch the win he worked so hard to defend all race long.

Hackney, a frequent racer with the Chevy Performance Street Stock League, had led 20 of the 21 laps completed before the restart, and was just three trips around the virtual Limaland Motorsports Park away from his first career Feature win under the DIRTcar eSports banner. He took off on the restart well, but Carl Kilgore hit it even better.

“Carl got a heck of a jump there, and that sort of worried me,” Hackney said. “I thought he was going to drive around me on the outside.”

Kilgore, of Greenville, MS, had been breathing down Hackney’s neck throughout the 25-lap affair and got a great run to Hackney’s outside at the drop of the green. He led the field across the stripe to complete Lap 22, but Hackney stayed with him on the inside.

With a big leap across all three lanes, Hackney, of Calhoun, GA, threw a big slide job on Kilgore in Turns 1-2 to defend the lead. A successful attempt, as Kilgore ran into Hackney’s rear bumper at the exit of Turn 2.

This move dampened Kilgore’s momentum enough to allow both Tyler Jackson and Jesse Wall to close the gap as the white flag was displayed. As Hackney sped away with the win, three-wide across the line came Kilgore, Jackson and Wall for the runner-up spot.

Wall ended up edging out Kilgore and Jackson by .014 seconds at the line for the runner-up spot with a great move through the middle, threading the needle between his opponents as they raced through Turns 3-4.

“I wish we would have had a few more laps up there to try and catch Keith, but man, that was fun,” Wall said.

Kilgore stayed glued to the top side and made it work in the final corner, squeaking past Jackson at the line by just over one tenth of a second. He, like Jackson, has won with the League before and is now sitting inside the podium in the points standings.

LOW ‘N SLOW: Gage Scores First Career Street Stock League Win in Season 3 Opener at Knoxville

Jackson continues dominance with podium effort; Axner charges 17th-to-5th

One of the most difficult lines to take around a glass-smooth Knoxville Raceway in a DIRTcar Street Stock on iRacing is right around the bottom. Fittingly, it was the very line Jordan Gage took en route to his first career DIRTcar eSports Chevy Performance Street Stock League Feature win Wednesday night on DIRTVision.

“I usually run the slider line here, but it was kind of wearing out faster than I liked,” Gage said. “These [races] are awesome when they come onto the table, especially when you can run them.”

Starting P1, Gage, of Whiting, IA, jumped out to the early lead and began fending off a hungry field of 23 other competitors behind him. Applying the most pressure early on was none other than the winningest driver in League history, Tyler Jackson.

Jackson, from Rockford, IL, started fifth and tried both the high and low lines to make the move on Gage, but was unsuccessful. After a late-race caution that brought a green-white-checkered finish at 22 laps, Thorne Zimmerman, of Sanderson, FL, was continuing his charge up from the seventh starting spot and got a great restart as the field came to two-to-go.

Zimmerman took the low line right behind Gage while Jackson followed suit, fending off a high-flying Carl Kilgore to his outside. The field rounded Turns 1-2, breeding a big run for Zimmerman down the backstretch. He tried the middle of the track in the final turns but came up just one spot short in the end.

“That white flag – I tried going in a little higher, so that maybe I could swing it under him, but I think [Gage] saw it coming and blocked the bottom to me,” Zimmerman said.

Jackson, a three-time winner in Season 2, crossed the line in third, continuing his stretch of success in the League that he began last December.

“Kinda got locked down there on the bottom at the end, but all-in-all for 12 green-flag laps, I guess we did all we could,” Jackson said.

SEASON 3 IS HERE: Big Blocks Form Core of DIRTcar eSports Tour, Street Stocks Return

Four DIRTcar-branded divisions plus Midgets also included in 10-race slate

The ground-pounding, earth-shaking, window-rattling Beasts of the Northeast Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds are back in all of iRacing’s virtual glory as the star attraction of DIRTcar eSports Season 3.

The virtual Big Blocks, which reached season-high car counts last season, are back as the focus of a 10-race Tour, every Wednesday from March 24 to May 26, for Season 3 – one that also includes the return of the Chevy Performance Street Stock League for its second season.

TOUR REGISTRATION
STREET STOCK REGISTRATION

Beginning with the first race at Weedsport Speedway on March 24, the Big Blocks will contest five races on the Season 3 Tour, alternating each Wednesday night with 360 Sprint Cars, Pro Late Models, UMP Modifieds, 358 Modifieds and the first-ever appearance by dirt Midgets. iRacing’s newest dirt track at Bristol Motor Speedway also has its spot on the docket, setting the stage for a Week 2 showdown with the UMP Modifieds.

All 10 races will be $250-to-win and pay back through the Feature field. Commemorative trophies will be awarded to the podium finishers in the final points standings after the Week 10 finale at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

The Chevy Performance Street Stock League will also begin March 24, setting out on a 10-race championship chase of its own. Racing across eight different tracks, competitors will chase a $100 top prize each night as Feature winner.

New to the Street Stock campaign in Season 3 is the highly requested addition of a points championship system, mirroring that of the DIRTcar eSports Tour. Trophies will be awarded to the podium finishers in final points after 10 races.

Following the precedent set in Season 2, the Street Stock League will once again be held with the more causal sim racer in mind, and thus only be available for competitors with iRatings 4800 and below.

Every race will once again be broadcasted on DIRTVision presented by Drydene, free to all account holders. Street Stocks will kick each night off with practice at 6:50pm ET and Qualifying at 7pm. The Tour session will open with practice at 7:50pm ET and follow with Qualifying.

Registration for each race tentatively closes the Monday before each event and is now open for all 10 events in each league.

SHARK BITE: Jackson Wins Third Street Stock Feature of Season 2 at Lanier

McMahan, Erickson garner Tyler Bachman Enterprises’ first top-10 finishes in final race

Tyler Jackson has reigned supreme over the Chevy Performance Street Stock League in DIRTcar eSports Season 2.

With his third Feature win in eight weeks of competition Wednesday night at Lanier National Speedway, Jackson remained the only driver on the circuit to win multiple Feature events.

But what was his secret to success at Lanier?

“I finally put a Qualifying effort together, and that makes a huge difference in these Street Stocks,” Jackson told announcer Rick Eshelman in the DIRTVision post-race interview. “They’re just so slow and heavy; if you bury yourself in Qualifying, it’s really hard to pass.”

While the League does not tally points throughout the season and declare an eventual champion, Jackson may as well have been the informal “champion” with his performances throughout the season, which never saw him finish outside of the top-10 one time in seven starts.

Another strong driver who competed mostly in the latter half of the League schedule was Paul Visage, who collected his third top-10 of the season Wednesday night after chasing Jackson down for the better part of the race.

“I got down there and hung the left sides in the moisture there, but you couldn’t really pass. You could get a good enough run to get up beside [Jackson], but not get by cleanly, so it was a lot of throttle control to really get around that place,” Visage said.

While they had several entries over the course of the eight-race schedule, the Tyler Bachman Enterprises (TBE) team, headquartered in scenic Morgantown, WV, was unable to muster a top-10 finish through the first seven events of the season.

That all changed Wednesday night with newcomers Brayden McMahan and Mitch Erickson posting seventh and tenth-place finishes, respectively. The team’s biggest night of the season came with all the firepower the 25-car field could handle, as a grand total of six TBE cars made the Feature, much to the delight of team executives who are currently working on their plans for competition in Season 3.

KILLED IT: First-Time Street Stock League Starter Kilgore Wins at USA Int’l

Jackson notches another podium finish, Hackney places third in debut

After leading all but one lap of the 30-lap Feature in his Chevy Performance Street Stock League debut Wednesday night, Carl Kilgore could barely believe his eyes when the caution flag flew with just three laps remaining.

“It all started at that restart,” Kilgore told announcer Josh Pike in the DIRTVision post-race interview. “When we had that caution come out… man, my guts were turning, I ain’t gonna lie to you.”

Tyler Jackson, the two-time Feature winner in Season 2, had been breathing down his neck for several laps before the caution, and was ready to make the move to put himself in DIRTcar eSports Victory Lane at USA International Speedway.

“I knew Tyler Jackson was going to have something because right before the caution came out, I saw him go to the top of Turns 1 and 2. Those last two laps when he came off of 2, and had the run down the backstretch, I was watching my mirror and seeing where he was wanting to go,” he said.

Green flag; pedal down. Kilgore stayed glued to the bottom lane in the corners and hugged the outside wall down the straightaways as the field raced out the final laps in green-white-checkered fashion.

Jackson was unable to make the move on the top side that he found advantageous to his run earlier, but he had one option left as he flew down into Turn 3 for the final time around the virtual three-quarter-mile oval.

A bump, a tap, a shove… call it what you will, but it didn’t work to Jackson’s favor in the end. Kilgore somehow was able to hang onto his #021 Street Stock through Turns 3-4, beating Jackson in a drag race to the stripe to pick up his first career DIRTcar eSports victory.

“Going into 3 on that last lap, I had a feeling something was coming… so I just kinda prepared myself for it, drug the brake a little bit though the center to keep the side-bite in there, and we got the drive off to get the win.”

Kilgore’s teammate, Keith Hackney, crossed the line in third after running a good slice of the race in second and smashing into a spinning lapped car towards the home stretch. He also picked up his first career podium with the League and a $50 check for his efforts.

The Chevy Performance Street Stock League action wraps up in just two weeks’ time on Wednesday, January 27, with the eighth and final race of Season 2 at Lanier National Speedway. Register today at DIRTcar.com/eSports and watch all the action live on DIRTVision!
