Month of June Last Break Before Mr. DIRTcar Champ Trails Take Off

Weedsport, NYMay 31, 2008 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing NorthEast PR Director

The month of June is the proverbial ‘calm before the storm’ when it comes to Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series competition in 2008.

Fulton (NY) Speedway stages the only tour stop in any division on June 7 when the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series comes to town for the annual ‘Showdown at Sundown’ title event for Big-Block Modifieds.

Yet once school lets out, its fast forward over the next four months as 65 championship events are scattered across the region in DIRTcar Racing NorthEast’s premier touring divisions. A dozen extra-distance high-paying events are scheduled to go off in both July and August, with no less than 20 shows each currently slated for September and October.

Overall 2008 Mr. DIRTcar Champions will be determined by tabulating points earned in the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series for Big-Block Modifieds and the Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series for 358-Modified, Sportsman, Pro Stock and Street Stock teams along with bonuses collected in each divisional DIRTcar Regional Racing Series. This year the track bonus formula is identical for all five touring classes.

Each driver will take the best five (5) finishes from a designated hometrack to collect bonus points which will then be added to actual Series points to determine the ‘08 titlist. Using the standard DIRTcar NE weekly points format, a driver winning five features at a given speedway could carry up to 300 extra points (60 per win) into the Mr. DIRTcar Championship when track points are officially tallied after Labor Day.

To gain access to DIRTcar Racing Series headline stories during the upcoming season, log into www.dirtcar.com and select ‘Series’ at the top then choose Mr. DIRTcar Series (#7) and hit ‘GO’ on right (all releases are posted in the NEWS category). An option for ‘Driver Points’ is also listed on the left side of the homepage which includes all five Northeast touring divisions, and more specific information about the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series can be found at www.superdirtcarseries.com. Bookmark each selection for quick review at a later time.
