TRIPLE DOUBLE: Gage Wins Third Feature, Jackson Crowned Two-Time Street Stock Champion

The championship may have already been decided, but that didn’t stop the Chevy Performance Street Stock League racers from putting on an edge-of-the-seat show in the final race of Season 4 at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

After wrestling the lead away from polsitter Raphael Gougeon and CFM eSports driver Carl Kilgore in the opening laps, outside polesitter Jordan Gage led only a handful of circuits before giving the lead right back to Kilgore on a restart after halfway. But Kilgore, a former League championship contender himself in Season 3, was unable to hold off a big run from Gage, who threw a race-winning slide job coming to the white flag to retake the lead and score his third victory of the season.

Defending League champion Tyler Jackson, of Rockford, IL, had another strong run in fifth, and was officially crowned champion of the Chevy Performance Street Stock League champion for the second time in his iRacing career.

BIG BLOCKS, BIGGER TROPHY: Matjoulis Wins Title in Shootout at Charlotte

After winning the World of Outlaws Late Model iRacing World Championship in 2019, CFM eSports driver Blake Matjoulis set out on the championship trail of the DIRTcar eSports Tour in Season 4 and instantly knew he’d be in contention to win his first title. Ten races later, and the fixed-series championship gold is now his.

Coming into the final race, Matjoulis was tied with World Championship rival Alex Bergeron and one point ahead of CFM teammate Ean Seay, making the most intense battles for the championship in Tour history. Matjoulis put himself ahead early, qualifying second-fastest of 42 cars and winning his Heat Race to set him on the front row of the Feature.

Polesitter Hayden Cardwell led until exactly the halfway point, but a costly mistake getting into Turn 1 slammed him into the outside wall, coughing up the lead to Matjoulis. Cardwell then wrecked in Turns 3-4, bringing out the yellow and sending him to the tail.

Matjoulis fended off pressure from Seay from there on out, and sealed the deal in the final laps when Cardwell nearly completed an amazing comeback from the tail of the field by beating him, and Seay, to the stripe in a race off Turn 4 to clinch his first Tour championship.

LONG TIME COMING: Rumsey Scores First Tour Victory at Eldora

Over 15 career starts for Logan Rumsey on the DIRTcar eSports Tour, but never once a trip to Victory Lane. That was, until Wednesday night, when the NOS Energy Drink Midgets came to Eldora Speedway.

Rumsey, of Manchester, PA, was like clockwork all event long, setting fast time in Qualifying, winning his Heat Race and leading all 20 laps of the Feature en route to a $250 check and his first-ever DIRTcar eSports Tour victory.

Evan Seay, of Chesnee, SC, came into the event with a slim points lead over Alex Bergeron and CFM eSports teammate Blake Matjoulis, but was involved in an early race incident, setting him several laps back on the field with a 23rd-place finish. Matjoulis finished on the podium, while Bergeron placed eighth, making for a near three-way tie for the points lead heading into the final showdown next Wednesday night, when the Bicknell Racing Products Big Block Modifieds take on The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

CLARK AND SHARK: First-Time Winner Clark Beats Jackson at Cedar Lake

Nine weeks in and the Chevy Performance Street Stock League has another first-time Feature winner.

Andrew Clark, of Dundee, NY, took advantage of a collision with leaders Charles Barnes and Alex Holbert late in the race, inheriting the lead and holding off Kyle Householder and points leader Tyler Jackson for his first career DIRTcar eSports victory. Jackson finished third, while rival championship contenders Jim Reavis and Brett Rowles struggled, sealing the deal on Jackson’s second League championship before the finale at Charlotte next Wednesday.

PERFECT 20: Gage Leads Every Lap at Williams Grove for Back-to-Back Wins

For the second week in-a-row, Jordan Gage has defeated the Chevy Performance Street Stock League regulars. This time, he drove 20 mistake-free laps around the half-mile of Williams Grove Speedway to score the $100 check and his third career DIRTcar eSports victory.

Points leader Tyler Jackson put relentless pressure on Gage throughout the race, but was unable to make a move for the top spot and came home second, maintaining his spot atop the points standings. With only two races remaining on the schedule, time is running out for the other competitors to try and stop a repeat championship from T-Jack.

1-2 PUNCH: Seay Beats CFM Teammate, Takes Tour Points Lead at Limaland

After fending off the relentless pressure for the lead behind him the entire race, Evan Seay held off CFM eSports teammate Blake Matjoulis in the final laps to win his eighth career DIRTcar eSports Tour Feature. Former iRacing Late Model World Champion Hayden Cardwell charged from 11th to third, and nearly passed both drivers in the dash for the finish line on the final lap.

With his second victory of Season 4, Seay has now taken the points lead from Alex Bergeron, who has led since the start. Only two races remain on the schedule to settle the battle for a brand-new champion.

TACO ‘BOUT SPEED: Cardwell Dominates 358s at Cedar Lake

Donning a Taco-themed design across his 358 Modified, Former iRacing World Champion Hayden Cardwell took advantage of a starting grid mishap ahead of him and made it count, leading all 40 laps en route to his fourth career DIRTcar eSports Tour victory Wednesday night.

Cardwell was originally scheduled to start third on the grid, but was permitted to fill the spot when polesitter Blake Matjoulis’ internet connection failed before the start of the race. He took off with the lead at the drop of the green and ran away with the race, crossing the finish line over four seconds ahead of second-place to win the VP Racing Fuels 358 Modified challenge at Cedar Lake Speedway.

HEADS UP MOVE: Gage Wins After Leaders Tangle at Eldora

Jordan Gage cashed-in for his second career Chevy Performance Street Stock League victory Wednesday night at Eldora Speedway after points leader Tyler Jackson got caught on the receiving end of an incident just before halfway. Second-place Kyle Jared made contact with race leader Jackson’s rear bumper coming out of Turn 2, sending Jackson into the wall and Jared to the rear of the field for the contact.

Gage capitalized on the two drivers’ misfortune after inheriting the lead and played perfect defense to runner-up Andrew Clark and third-place Dylan Petty to bag the $100 check.

BULLRING KING: Bergeron Defends 305 Sprint Car Throne at Chili Bowl

DIRTcar eSports Tour points leader Alex Bergeron extended his lead in the standings last Wednesday night with a NOS Energy Drink 305 Sprint Car victory at the Tulsa Expo Square Chili Bowl. The three-time iRacing World Champion won the last Tour race at the Chili Bowl in Season 2, and successfully defended it with an early pass for the lead on Dylan Yeager to score his third victory of Season 4.
